Term 3 Themes
for our after-school and day programs for children up to Year 9
-
Over eight weekly workshops, our Create & Connect program focuses around a NEW theme each term. Our young artists explore and develop various drawing and painting techniques while also focusing on a specific media each term, including: collage, printing, textiles, construction, clay.
-
Gaining inspiration from the world around us, as well as a variety of modern and classical artists, we experiment with and apply creative techniques and processes to develop our own one-of-a-kind creations and bespoke designs. Our Create & Connect workshops promote positive self-development and respect.
-
Each term is different and NO WORK is mass produced, copied or imitated. Other artists simlply inspire us. We are firm believers of process, discovery and independent thinking, which is beneficial to the healthy cognitive, emotional and social development of our students.

Conflict
Across this theme, we will be using a range of mediums and looking at various artworks/artists to creatively explore and express our own experiences and understanding of:
What is conflict and how does it make us feel?
What can trigger conflict within ourselves and others?
Verbal and non-verbal communication.
The importance of repair following conflict.
Differences between assertive/passive/aggressive behaviours.
Mindfulness and letting go during and after conflict.
This program will embed Artlet’s CREATIVE Framework throughout all our learning, with the aim of building and strengthening our learners’ CREATIVE capabilities.
Safeguarding children is our top priority. Artlet implements a Child and Youth Risk Management Strategy and follows strict risk assessment procedures for all workshops. All Artlet employees hold current Blue Cards (and exemption cards) and have completed compulsory Student Protection training for the schools we work within. Due to the therapeutic nature of art, we are aware that practical workshops may trigger various responses or traumas of students. In the event that personal or confidential information is shared during our workshops, our employees are trained to respond appropriately and report information to your school in accordance with mandatory reporting obligations and Student Protection guidelines.
